 Disneyland -- The twins had a great time, on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the teacups, the merry-go-round, It's a Small World, Pirates of the Caribbean, and so many other rides. They also met Rapunzel and handed her their "chupetas" (pacifiers) in an effective "rite of passage" planned perfectly by their mother.

We visited our friends Joan and David at their beautiful
home in the Hope Ranch area of Santa Barbara. Joan was
Monica's anthropology professor at SMCC and David

is a metal sculptor and former member of the LAPD.
Both are wonderful hosts...
Photos below include the twins greeting a horse who
lives on the property and exploring the hillside above the
house and its solar-energy arrays. The last three photos
were taken by Chris and Juliana.

Festa Juninha

Annual "Festa Juninha" celebration. Everyone dresses

"hick style" (in a "country" way), there are

lots of games for the kids as well as beer and batidas

(cachaça liquor mixed with various fruit juices) for

the adults, and lots of forró and sertaneja music.
